The Skills Gap Analysis - Focus Group Discussions was held on 21st September 2022 at The Malla Hotel, Kathmandu. The discussions primarily aimed to explore the skill gap between Learning in academic institutions and implementation in the job market mainly among youth associated with entry-level and mid-level positions in different organizations.
Furthermore, this event intended to understand the relevance, and effectiveness of academic, and vocational courses that match the demands and capability of the job market. This discussion and conclusion from the skill gap analysis would be used to devise strategies for a smooth transition from academia to industry benefiting both institutions, according to the organizers.

Bhas Raj Pathak (IEEE), Managing Director, Summus Engineering and Consultancy Pvt Ltd, Ratindra Singh CEO - Explore Himalaya Travel & Adventure/ Smartly Yours, Jeevan Adhikari, Program Director, Mid-Valley International College, Ram k. Puri - Tourism Expert/ lecturer/ Author, Dr Hari Krishna Pant - Associate Professor and Asst Dean - Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science, Kirtipur, Er. Lokesh Gupta - Chief Operating Officer at Susankya Tech were moderators of the event.
There were 45 delegates from the 30 companies related to IT, Agriculture, Hospitality, and Tourism industries along with 9 moderators from different Academic Institutions. The event incorporated major sessions like Group Discussion, Questionnaire Survey, Gallery Walk, Networking, etc.
The event was organized by the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) which is working towards advocacy and reforms in the academic sector to build better human capital. The knowledge partner for the event was Mid-Valley International College. The students of Mid Valley were part of the organizing team in collaboration with Skill Lab.
