Tamang Community Celebrated Sonam Lhosar in Nepal:
Sonam Lhosar was celebrated all over the country today. The Tamang community celebrated Sonam Lhosar, the New Year festival by organizing various programs to celebrate Magh Shukla Pratipada.
According to the Manjushri calendar, the 2857th year starts from today and the cow year enters after completing the mouse year. Every year, the Sonam Lhosar festival is celebrated with various programs on the occasion of Magh Shukla Pratipada. Sonam Lhosar is divided into 12 categories including rat, cow, tiger, rabbit, dragon (cloud), snake, horse, sheep, monkey, bird, dog, and pig.
Researcher Tika Sherpa informed that all the 12 years of Lhosar are counted from the name of animals and birds. This festival is specially celebrated in different districts of the Bagmati region where the Tamang caste is predominant.
