Sixth Edition of Kitab Jatra Scheduled for 18th and 19th of Shrawan in Kathmandu

The much-anticipated sixth edition of the 'Kitab Jatra' is set to take place on the 18th and 19th of Shrawan in Kathmandu. Organized by the Kitab Jatra Foundation, this two-day festival will be hosted at the Army Officers Club in Sundhara.

"We are thrilled to announce the sixth edition of Kitab Jatra," stated Foundation President and Festival Director Rishiram Adhikari. "After a two-year hiatus due to economic challenges, we are excited to bring back the festival with renewed vigor."

Festival Highlights

  • Literary and Contemporary Discussions: The festival will feature discussions on various topics, including literature, economics, social issues, and the arts.

  • Creative Activities: According to Festival Coordinator Bikas Bhattarai, attendees can look forward to engaging activities such as poetry evenings, book exhibitions, startup showcases, open-mic sessions, art exhibitions, calligraphy, and blood donation drives.

  • Mystic Nepal Performances: Special performances in music and art will be based on the theme of Mystic Nepal, promising a unique cultural experience.

Interactive Sessions and Musical Performances

This year’s Kitab Jatra will host 15 sessions where authors and readers can engage in intimate discussions. These sessions will cover a broad spectrum of fields including language, literature, cinema, society, and banking. Additionally, there will be a musical performance by the band 'Sangam Shruti.'

Book Exhibition and Awards

The book exhibition will be coordinated by the online book retailer Kitab Yatra. During the festival, the prestigious 'Prem Sahitya Samman' with a prize of NPR 111,111 will be announced. This award, established in memory of the late educationist Prem Prasad Adhikari of Sarlahi district, is given annually to an individual who has made significant contributions to Nepali literature and culture. Last year's recipient was writer Dhruv Chandra Gautam.

Kitab Yatra will also present the 'Kitab Yatra Best Seller Award' to the best-selling book on their platform. Last year, this honor was bestowed upon 'Satyamohan' by author Girish Giri.

Scholarship Opportunity

In collaboration with Prime CA, one individual will receive the 'Prem Prasad Memorial Scholarship' for CA studies. This scholarship will be awarded based on open applications following the conclusion of Kitab Jatra.
