The second international community mental health conference will be held in Chitwan.
The conference is to be held from 18 to 20 Baisakh 2082 under the leadership of the Department of Psychiatry of Massachusetts General Hospital, USA, and Chitwan Medical College.
Harvard Medical School, University of Oslo, the USA Nepal Health Foundation, the Nepal American Psychiatric Association, the Health Foundation Nepal, the Nepal Institute of Mental Health, the Women's Rehabilitation Center,, and other organizations are co-organizing the conference. The Ministry of Health of the Government of Nepal is also said to be cooperating with the conference.
According to Dr. Shreedhar Poudel, Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA, an organizing committee member, the conference will discuss ways to provide effective and equitable community mental health services.
“International and national experts on mental health will present policies, new research, and achievements of the three,” he added. “Measures to provide effective and equitable community mental health services will also be discussed, while discussing the challenges faced by local health workers.”
Statistics have been made public that the mental health status of Nepalis is deteriorating due to loose social relations, increasing unemployment, poverty, separation from family during foreign employment, and other problems. However, many people still consider mental problems as a stigma rather than a disease.
The conference, which will include experts from the world's best universities and research institutions, will also provide information on cutting-edge psychiatry and mental health research and treatment processes.
Conference
