The second Aksharaa Children's Literature Festival has been completed. Aksharaa School organized a literature festival by organizing various programs among more than 25 government and institutional schools and more than 4000 parents in the valley.
At the festival, senior artist Madan Krishna Shrestha said that it is very meaningful to give knowledge of literature to children from the school level.
He said that every person can become a writer because the genre of literature is important in itself. He said, "everyone can become a writer, if you can practice presenting what you have in your mind, literature is not a complicated subject. It is important to practice in different genres.
In the festival organized for the development of reading culture among children and especially for the enhancement of knowledge in literature, workshops on literature were held for students and teachers on various topics including language teaching, writing skills, radio plays, book cover illustrations, author studies, character portrayals. Also, during the closing session of the festival, students of different schools were interacted with on how to teach literature books in a fun and meaningful way along with textbooks in class.
The festival, which was organized with the aim of developing reading culture in children apart from prescribed textbooks, had an interaction program with writers Neelam Karki Niharika and Buddhisagar. During the interaction program, the writer said that extra-curricular books are more necessary for practical knowledge.
He said that although it is necessary to give children basic knowledge on various subjects in school, it is sad that until now, materials related to children's and juvenile literature are not easily available.
Anju Bhattarai, Principal of Aksharaa School, who is practicing cultural education right from the school, said that reading culture can be developed in children through the Children's Literature Festival.
