Public Service Commission Celebrates 73rd Anniversary with Various Programs
The Public Service Commission recently concluded its 73rd anniversary celebrations with a series of events and programs. The occasion marked the establishment of the Commission on 1st Ashad 2008 (BS) and was held at Kamalpokhari, under the esteemed presence of Honorable Vice President Mr. Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, heads of constitutional bodies, Attorney General, Chief Secretary to the Government of Nepal, and the Commission Chairman.
Promoting Merit System and Inclusiveness
During the event, the Honorable Vice President emphasized the importance of the Public Service Commission as the first established constitutional body of Nepal. He commended the Commission for its efforts in promoting the merit system and ensuring the representation of various classes, genders, and groups within the government. He further encouraged the Commission to continue working effectively in the future and uphold the principles of inclusiveness.
Commission's Accomplishments and Future Plans
Commission Chairman Mr. Madhav Prasad Regmi addressed the audience, highlighting the Commission's accomplishments and future plans. He mentioned that the Commission has been fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities in accordance with the Public Service Commission Regulations of 2079 and the Public Service Commission (Operation) Guidelines of 2079. The Commission has also formulated and implemented its Second Strategic Plan, covering the period from 2079/80 to 2083/84.
The Chairman emphasized the Commission's commitment to improving the curriculum and test techniques, as well as its collaboration with other state public service commissions. He mentioned the organization of an annual national conference and the Commission's role in promoting performance-based principles in provincial public service commissions.
Honoring Contributions and Recognizing Excellence
During the program, Prof. Dr. Madhunidhi Tiwari, a former member of the Commission, was honored with a certificate for his significant contributions to promoting the qualification system of the Commission. Additionally, outstanding employees were recognized for their exceptional work in the Fiscal Year 2079/80.
Certificates of appreciation were awarded to Mr. Khagendra Prasad Bhatt, Section Officer of the Mahendranagar Office; Mr. Nayab Subba of the Central Office; Ms. Manakumari Shrestha, Office Assistant; and Mr. Sanubabu Chaime for their contributions in the field of information technology. Moreover, Mr. Prem Kumar Saiju, Nayab Subba of the Central Office; Mr. Hem Bahadur Khadka, Computer Operator of the Application Management Center; and Mr. Gyanendra Prasad Dhital, Computer Operator of the Commission's Dhankuta Office, were also honored with certificates.
Former officials and employees of the Commission were acknowledged and honored by the Honorable Vice President, and certificates were distributed to them as a token of appreciation.
Diverse Range of Programs
The anniversary celebrations included a series of programs aimed at engaging different stakeholders and promoting mutual cooperation. These programs encompassed an inter-constitutional body competition, a blood donation drive, radio dialogues and seminars, television broadcasts, and the publication of a special issue in Gorkhapatra, a national daily.
Inter-Constitutional Body Competition
On the 29th and 30th of Jestha 2080, the Public Service Commission organized an inter-constitutional body competition at its Central Office in Kamalpokhari. Eight groups, including the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority, Auditor General, Election Commission, and National Human Rights Commission, participated alongside the Public Service Commission and the Madhesi Commission.
After a selection stage competition on the 29th of Jestha, four groups advanced to the final competition held on the 30th of Jestha. The competition concluded with the Auditor General's Office securing the first place, followed by the Public Service Commission, National Human Rights Commission, and the National Natural Resources and Finance Commission.
Blood Donation Program
To commemorate World Blood Donation Day, a blood donation program was organized at the Commission's central office in Kamalpokhari on the 31st of Jestha 2080. Thirty employees of the Commission actively participated in the event, contributing to the noble cause.
Radio and Television Programs
The anniversary celebrations also featured informative programs broadcasted on Nepal Television and Radio Nepal. These programs provided platforms for Chairman Mr. Madhav Prasad Regmi, former Chairman Mr. Umesh Prasad Mainali, and Prof. Dr. Kalyani Mishra Tripathi, Chairman of the Agriculture and Forestry University Service Commission, to discuss the Commission's work and upcoming agenda.
Special Issue Publication
In honor of the Public Service Commission's 73rd anniversary, a special issue was published in Gorkhapatra National Daily on the 1st of Ashad 2080. The publication highlighted the Commission's achievements, contributions, and its significance as a constitutional body.
The anniversary program concluded with Mr. Bir Bahadur Rai, a distinguished member of the Commission, expressing gratitude to the chief guest, Honorable Vice President, invited dignitaries, and everyone involved in making the event a success.
The Public Service Commission remains committed to strengthening relationships with other constitutional bodies, fostering continuous learning among its employees, and expanding their knowledge base. The anniversary celebrations showcased the Commission's dedication to meritocracy, inclusiveness, and efficient public service delivery in Nepal.
