The 18th convocation ceremony of Pokhara University in Nepal saw the initiation of 7,000 students, including 6,999 undergraduate and postgraduate students who were initiated in a ceremony held on the university campus in Pokhara 30, Dhungepatan.
572 students who made it to the dean's list were honored during the ceremony. Additionally, students with the highest marks in all postgraduate and undergraduate programs were awarded gold-plated Chancellor's and Oxford Medals, respectively. Anish Limbu and Yakshin Tiwari were awarded the OSEM Gold Medal-2079 and Lakshmi Vidya Padak-2079 for obtaining the highest marks in the undergraduate computer application program and Business Administration, respectively.
Under the Faculty of Health Sciences, several students were awarded the Vice-Chancellor's Medal, and Deepmala Shrestha was initiated with the Chancellor's Medal (Matriculation).
The university has been providing the largest number of free scholarships in Nepal and has provided 816 students with this opportunity this year. The university has also run a teaching hospital since this year, with plans to operate the Pokhara University Teaching Hospital, modified dormitory building, and newly constructed building in full phase.
In his address to the students, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' urged them to use the knowledge and skills acquired in the overall development of the country. He also pointed out that stopping the migration of educational personnel is a significant challenge, and education plays a leading role in achieving the government's goals of social justice, good governance, and prosperity.
Prof. Dr. Prem Narayan Aryal, Vice-Chancellor of the University, congratulated the initiated students and asked them to be honest, dedicated, and undisturbed in fulfilling their duties towards the country. He expressed pride in the human resources produced by Pokhara University, who have succeeded in introducing themselves to different areas of the country.
