Pokhara Street Festival 2023

On the occasion of the English New Year, preparations for the street festival have started in Pokhara. Restaurant & Bar Association Nepal (REBAN) Pokhara has started preparations for the 24th edition of the Street Festival, which has been held for the past 23 years, with the slogan 'Eat on the road, enjoy on the road'.

Naresh Bhattarai, president of REBAN Pokhara and festival coordinator, informed in a press conference held on Thursday that the festival is going to be organized on the 3 km road of Pokhara Lakeside from 13th to 17th Poush 2079 (28th December 2022 to 1st January 2023). REBAN has been organizing a festival to promote Pokhara as an English New Year destination for domestic and foreign tourists.

During the 5-day long festival, there will be cultural programs, original costumes, national and international food, Dohori Song, an exhibition, concert, boat race, veteran tennis tournament, waiter race, tug of war and a documentary about the main destinations of Pokhara. Bhattarai said that the cultural program of the neighboring country of India will also be included in the festival.

The organizers estimate that around 400,000 visitors will participate in the festival. On the occasion of the festival, Hotel Association Pokhara will give a 20 percent discount on rooms. With the help of the Nepal Tourism Board, publicity about the festival will be spread in all 7 provinces of the country.

REBAN has made a plan to promote the street festival next year in SAARC countries along with the neighboring countries on the occasion of the Silver Year. Laxman Subedi, President of Hotel Association Pokhara, and Vimala Bhandari, President of Nepal Journalist Federation Kaski also spoke at the press conference.
