Prime Minister Dahal Highlights Role of Engineers in Nation Building at 16th National Convention of Engineers
Kathmandu, January 6, 2024 - Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal emphasized the pivotal role of engineers in nation-building during his address at the 16th National Convention of Engineers in Kathmandu (from January 3-4, 2024). He underscored the importance of modern infrastructure development in driving the country's prosperity.
The Prime Minister referred to engineers as the "conductors of nation-building," highlighting their integral role in the development of various sectors, including road transport, factories, energy, information technology, agriculture, and tourism. His remarks resonated with the theme of the conference, focusing on the need for comprehensive progress in infrastructure to foster national growth.
Dahal stressed the necessity of advancing science and technology within the country and harnessing its utility for development purposes. He also acknowledged the long-standing demand by the Nepal Engineers Association for the establishment of an Engineering Staff College, aimed at enhancing the capacity and professional development of engineers. Expressing his support, he noted, "I have taken this interest and demand of Tarpais positively."
In his speech, the Prime Minister outlined the government's future focus on infrastructure construction, emphasizing the need for efficient mobilization and management of engineers and technical manpower across union, state, and local structures. He projected this focus as a cornerstone for the nation's developmental strategy.
The conference was organized by the Nepal Engineers' Association, attended by a large number of engineers and industry professionals, and served as a platform to discuss the challenges and opportunities in the engineering sector in Nepal.
