National Science Day

8th National Science Day:

Today is the 8th National Science Day to be celebrated on 2077 Ashoj 1 (17 September 2020). The eighth National Science Day will be celebrated with the slogan 'Science for Healthy and Quality of Life'.

This year, due to the epidemic of coronavirus, the National Science Day program is being celebrated by the virtual method. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will be the chief guest at the eighth National Science Day program to be organized through Virtual Zoom.

As this is a week-long program, Science Day programs have already started. The Government of Nepal had decided to celebrate the National Science Day on the 1st of Ashoj every year by deciding on the 8th of Mansir 2069 BS with the objective of using science and technology and spreading public awareness.

Every year since 2070 BS, National Science Day has been celebrated on Ashoj 1st with different slogans. This day is celebrated to empower individuals and organizations in the field of science and technology, to work for public awareness, and to create conditions for policymakers to play an active role in this process.

A week-long program has been conducted in collaboration with the concerned bodies in the field of science and technology, state and local levels, schools, universities, and others. The seven-day program includes science attendance, essay competitions, innovative programs, webinars, art and invention exhibitions, and young scientific discussions.

During the day, various policies and programs in the field of science and technology will be reviewed. Seminars, essay competitions, painting competitions, and oratory competitions have been organized in different states with the objective of enhancing the role of science in education.

The eighth National Science Day is being celebrated virtually today due to the epidemic of coronavirus. Today's chief guest is the Prime Minister. Prime Minister Oli's slogan is 'Prosperous Nepal and Happy Nepali'. The prosperity of any country is possible only with the development of science and technology.
