Learning Fair and Training Programs in Maiwakhola

Maiwakhola Rural Municipality of Taplejung has started preparations for a large-scale learning fair to improve educational quality and reform. The municipality has announced it will organize a skill-based learning fair on 2081 Chaitra 27.

Municipality Chairperson Vijay Prakash Wanem announced that the learning fair will be held. Parents, teachers, students, intellectuals, and others across the municipality will participate. According to Chairperson Wanem, the fair is being organized to improve the declining quality of education and is expected to support educational reform efforts.

The municipality, which has been conducting various programs, such as an extensive educational conference, to improve academic quality, is currently providing training for teachers focused on building a learning-friendly environment. The municipality has stated that the training is being conducted with the participation of basic-level teachers under the slogan “Learning-Friendly Schools for Quality Education.”

Spokesperson Chandra Kumar Tamang shared that 115 teachers from grades 1 to 8 working in schools across the municipality are participating in the training, which will conclude on Monday. According to Tamang, the sessions are facilitated by Abhishek Ghimire, the National Campaign for Education Nepal Coordinator, along with subject experts Arjun Bhatt and Kamala Devkota.

Earlier, the municipality provided a 65-day Montessori training course to teachers (Early Childhood Development assistants) from child development centers across the municipality. That training, which was completed in the first week of Chaitra, included participation from 26 ECD assistants.

Likewise, in the month of Jestha, the municipality organized a large educational conference after planning for quality education and reform. Parents, school management committee members, teachers, students, and other concerned parties from across the municipality participated in the conference.

Chairperson Wanem stated that the municipality plans to implement the skills and expertise gained from the learning-friendly and quality education-focused training programs starting in the upcoming academic session. According to him, teachers will be required to apply the skills and knowledge gained from the training in their teaching starting in the new academic year.
