International Nurses Day is being celebrated all over the world including Nepal:
President Vidyadevi Bhandari has appreciated the nurses who have been at the forefront of the fight against Covid-19. Bhandari tweeted congratulations on the occasion of International Nurses' Day and the 201st Florence Nightingale's Jubilee on Wednesday.
"On the occasion of International Nurses Day and the 201st Florence Nightingale's Jubilee, I highly appreciate the dedication, sacrifice, and diligence of all the nurses who have been working day and night to take care of the infected, at the forefront of the fight against the global epidemic of COVID-19," she tweeted.
International Nurses Day is being celebrated all over the world including Nepal on Wednesday with various programs. This year's Nurse's Day is being celebrated under the slogan 'Nurse: A Voice for Leadership, a Vision for Future Health Care' Every May 12 is celebrated around the world to mark the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the father of modern nursing movement.
According to the Nepal Nursing Council, there are more than 60,000 nurses in Nepal at present. Only one percent of the total nurses in Nepal are male nurses. Nurses are produced at the rate of 5,000 per year.
