Hult Prize at Kathmandu University: Pioneering Innovation for a Better Future

The Hult Prize at Kathmandu University is gearing up for an exciting showcase of innovation and entrepreneurship, with the semi-finals scheduled for January 4, 2025, at the College of Management and the grand finale set for January 9, 2025, at CV Raman Hall, Kathmandu University. Over 20 startups will compete in this prestigious event, presenting groundbreaking ideas to address global challenges through sustainable and impactful solutions. Sponsored by Shubha Yatra, a prominent name in the industry, the event is poised to be a significant milestone in fostering entrepreneurial talent and innovation in Nepal.

In preparation for the competition, workshops were held to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to excel. These sessions began with a workshop on the Business Canvas Model conducted by Prabina Shah, Founder of ArtSpace Nepal, on December 1, 2024. This was followed by a session on December 11, 2024, focusing on the Opportunities and Challenges of Social Enterprises, facilitated by Pushpa Sthapit and Rajan Chakradhar, founders of Upcycle Nepal Pvt. Ltd. (Revive). On December 13, 2024, Pramesh Bhattarai, Founder of Youth for Good, led a workshop on The Power of Resilient Leadership, inspiring participants to embrace resilience as a cornerstone of effective leadership.

To strengthen participants’ strategic and operational skills, a session titled Marketing Matters: Building Winning Strategies for Startup Success was conducted by Assistant Professor Sunanda Sharma of Kathmandu University School of Management on December 23, 2024. This was followed by a workshop on Financial Planning for Startups led by Shreejan Bhandari on December 26, 2024, emphasizing essential financial strategies for sustainable growth. The series concluded with an interactive Hult Prize Mock Presentation Workshop on December 28, 2024, featuring industry leaders Darshan Khanal (CEO and Co-founder of Shubha Yatra), Amrit Wagle (CEO of Tumbaad.com), Prashant Dahal (CEO and Co-founder of Golden Fidelity Investment), and Gaurab Keshari (Co-founder of Golden Fidelity Investment). This session provided participants with personalized feedback to refine their presentations and pitches.

The semi-finals and grand finale promise to celebrate creativity and perseverance as young changemakers present their innovative ideas to a panel of esteemed judges. The Hult Prize is not merely a competition but a global movement encouraging students to develop entrepreneurial solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.
