Himalayan Science Festival 2023 to Unleash Scientific Talent in Pokhara
The Himalayan Science Festival is back with its second edition in Pokhara on May 18-19, 2023, at the Himalaya Science Foundation Project. The festival aims to encourage and showcase scientific talent among students and enthusiasts.
In a press conference held on March 2, 2023, Chairman Tanik Basnet announced that the festival would focus on waste projects, assistive technology, agricultural tools and equipment, energy alternatives, and technology to draw water from rivers.
The festival will also feature hardware tools for solving problems in daily life. The best projects from the province will be selected and displayed at the festival. This event will take place in all seven provinces, and winners from each province will compete in the final event in Kathmandu.
The festival is an excellent opportunity for students to display their scientific inventions and win prizes. The first, second, and third winners of the scientific inventions will receive cash prizes of 30,000, 25,000, and 20,000 Nepali rupees, respectively.
Schools participating in the festival will have to pay a fee of 5,000 Nepali rupees for the stall. Rajkumar Dhakal, the coordinator of the Science Teachers Association of Nepal Gandaki, emphasized that this program is crucial because students cannot compete until they learn technology.
The festival's organizers held the first edition in January 2020, but the event was later canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Himalayan Science Festival 2023 is an opportunity for students and science enthusiasts to showcase their talent and learn about the latest scientific innovations.
