First Gharial Crocodile Festival to be Held in Tikapur

The First Gharial Crocodile Festival will be held at Dhungana Tole in Tikapur Municipality-7 Baidi of Kailali. Dolphin Aquaculture and Biodiversity Conservation Nepal is going to organize a festival with the aim of spreading awareness about the conservation of the rare watch crocodile. The president of the organization Bhojraj Dhungana informed that the festival will be held from August 27, Saturday to September 2, 2022, Friday.

Gharial crocodiles are located in Tikapur municipality-7, Bhajani municipality-8 and 3 which are also dolphin conservation areas. At this time, some numbers of watch crocodiles are appearing in the meetpoint of Mohana, Pathraiya, and Kanda rivers. Dhungana claims that there are two dozen clocks in that area alone.

Similarly, the second Dolphin, Aquatic and Biodiversity conservation awareness week-long program will start on the day of Gharial festival. President Dhungana informed that the week-long awareness program to be held until September 2, 2022, will include dolphin watching, oat conservation program, oratory competition, and tree planting program.

Similarly, Dhungana informed that there is a program for the protection of rare dolphins and gharials such as sending SMS to MPs, mayors/deputy mayors, distribution of prizes etc. Dolphins can be observed up close at the mouth of the river at Baidi.
