Pokhara Academy of Health Science will hold its first convocation ceremony on Thursday afternoon, January 16th, 2025 (Magh 3rd, 2081). KP Sharma Oli, the Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Academy, will attend.
At the convocation, 43 students from the first and second batches of the Medical Science Faculty’s postgraduate programs (Doctor of Medicine-Master of Surgery, MD-MS) will be graduating. The Academy’s Senate meeting will also be held on Thursday, according to Branch Officer Sushil Kumar Aryal.
“Today, after the inauguration of the Academy’s building and the Senate meeting, the convocation will occur,” Aryal said. The Prime Minister will inaugurate the emergency building constructed within the Academy premises. Director of the Academy, Professor Dr. Bharat Bahadur Khatri, stated that preparations are underway to conduct MBBS classes on the upper floors of the same building.
According to the Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences Act, 2072, the Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences was established from the former Western Regional Hospital. The Western Regional Hospital, the largest hospital in Gandaki Province, served 455,000 patients last year and is starting cancer treatment services there.
