With the start of the new year, a special educational exhibition is set to take place in Birendranagar, Surkhet. On this occasion, a workshop will also be held to bring together education experts, local representatives, parents, and students to discuss education policies, the current state of education in Karnali, and possible solutions.

Initiated by the Karnali Development Center in collaboration with Birendranagar Municipality and the Ministry of Social Development of Karnali Province, the exhibition will span three days, as confirmed by the center’s chairperson, Navin Jaisi. He shared that this event is being organized due to the challenging educational indicators in Karnali, with the aim of fostering broader dialogue and reflection on the situation.

The exhibition and interactive sessions will take place on Baisakh 3, 4, and 5. According to the center, there will be special panel discussions featuring the Chief Minister of Karnali Province, former Chief Ministers, and former Vice-Chancellors of Mid-Western University. During the event, the educational condition of Karnali will be analyzed from different perspectives. Discussions will include the presentation of educational indicators, the situation of students going outside Karnali for higher education, the status of marginalized communities and children with physical disabilities, and options for improving their access to education.

Additionally, education professionals will present and discuss recent educational technologies, the opportunities and challenges created by these advancements, and how they can be integrated effectively.

The center noted that representatives from colleges offering higher education in both Karnali and the capital have been invited, as well as local government representatives from all 10 districts and 79 local levels within Karnali. Students and parents from schools across these regions will also attend.

Chairperson Jaisi stated that the purpose of the event is to analyze overall educational indicators, highlight the current educational status of Karnali, and discuss possible policy-based and alternative solutions for improvement.

Another key goal of the exhibition is to encourage students to engage in skill-based, self-employment opportunities while studying. It also aims to promote earning through e-commerce from home using communication technology and to emphasize technical and vocational education. The event will feature career counseling sessions for students, including topics such as leadership development, moral education, drug abuse and its effects, choosing the right subject of study, and understanding the scope of different fields.
