Copa America 2021 Schedule

Copa America 2021 Schedule: This year's Copa America will now take place in Brazil. The South American Football Federation has decided to hold the tournament in Brazil on Monday. The schedule and venue will be decided in a few days. Ten countries from South America will take part in the Copa from June 13 to July 10.

The Copa America 2020 was to be held jointly in Argentina and Colombia. This is the first joint project in the 105-year history of the competition. However, on May 20, the federation removed Colombia from the tournament. Demonstrations are taking place across the country demanding social and economic change.

After that, it was decided that the competition would be held only in Argentina. Argentina was removed from the organizers only on Monday. The federation did not say exactly why Argentina withdrew from the competition, but the second wave of coronavirus infection is now underway in Argentina.

The federation said it was analyzing other countries interested in hosting the competition and would provide information on new developments immediately. The 2020 tournament was postponed for a year due to the epidemic. A meeting of the federation is being held about the current situation. The federation's current decision was announced over the weekend. Even within Argentina, questions were being raised about the postponement of the competition.

The second wave of infections has swept across Argentina since May. In this context, strict lockdown is being implemented there. Last Thursday there were the most infected. By the weekend, the death toll had reached 76,693. Some of the key players who have returned from Europe for the tournament have also expressed doubts about the tournament. Uruguayan player Luis Suarez has said that humanitarian interests are more important than competition.

Gonzalo Beloso, the federation's secretary-general, said last week he had talked to Chile about moving the tournament. For economic reasons, organizing a competition is a must for the federation. In 2019, the federation made a profit of 118 million dollars from Copa America, which is the equivalent of the European Championship. Lately, the importance of the competition and the reputation of the federation has been on fire.
