The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology is preparing to celebrate 9th National Science Day on Ashoj 1 (17th September 2021). The purpose of the program is to spread public awareness about the progress made in the field of science and technology and to take initiative through science diplomacy to introduce science, technology, and innovation in the country.
Secretary for Science and Technology, Dr. Suresh Acharya, said that the day is being celebrated to provide information about various discoveries and inventions in science and technology.
According to him, on the occasion of the day, new talents involved in scientific research will be encouraged and those who have contributed in this field will be honored and prizes will be distributed. The day will be useful to reduce the trend of talent flight by creating an employment environment for the young manpower in the country.
The Constitution of Nepal has made provision to increase investment in scientific study, research, and invention, upliftment and development of science and technology and to preserve scientific, technical, intellectual, and specialized talents. In addition, the Science, Technology, and Innovation Policy, 2076 BS has emphasized conducting science and technology-related work in an integrated and coordinated manner by increasing scientific consciousness by integrating technology and innovation with science and production.
It is necessary to create a conducive learning environment by making education quality, vital, vocational, and technology-friendly as the basis of the human capital building, ensuring access to education for all citizens, developing efficient educational manpower, and formulating knowledge and skill-based curricula.
Emphasizing the need for technical education in the country, the Government of Nepal is implementing the concept of seventy percent technical and thirty percent general education. It is necessary to bring Science and Technology University into operation to produce world-class manpower in the field of science and technology

Expansion of technical education and technical schools to produce basic, medium, and high level skilled technical manpower, development of physical infrastructure, capacity building of trainers, technology-friendly training, creation of curriculum as per the demand of labor market, development of technical and vocational education and training. To do so, it will move forward in coordination and cooperation with various levels of government.
Awards will be announced in the categories of Science Journalism, Aeronautical Technology, Space Technology, Disaster Reduction Technology, and Biotechnology on the day of the celebration under the slogan 'Advanced Development of Science and Technology: Easy Exit from Disasters and Epidemics'. National Science Day has been celebrated since 2070 Ashoj 1.
