UNIVERSITY SCHOLAR CONFERENCE: ENGINEERING AND INNOVATION, 2022
Association of Mechanical Engineering Students (AMES) is geared to organize the 2nd edition of University Scholar Conference: Engineering and Innovation (USC’22) on the 17th of May, 2022 at Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel, Kavrepalanchowk. The previous event i.e., the first edition of the University Scholar Conference 2021 (USC’21) was also organized by AMES at Kathmandu University on the 17th of January, 2021. There are plans for the conference to become more inclusive in the years to come after the grand event this year.
University Scholar Conference: Engineering and Innovation (USC 2022) is a student-level conference (i.e., target graduate and undergraduate) to be organized in hybrid mode after the successful completion of the first edition in virtual mode. USC 2022 provides a scholarly platform for graduate and undergraduate students to exchange and share cutting-edge development and state-of-the-art research work in the field of science and engineering among academia, researchers, industrialists, professors, students, and policymakers.
The main resolution of our University Scholar Conference is to increase Women’s Engagement in Engineering and focus on the importance of Women’s Empowerment in Engineering. The conference committee highly encourages the participation of graduate and undergraduate students engaged in engineering and science education within Nepal and abroad.
The Conference will be addressed by distinguished personalities, key-note speakers, and invited speakers. There will be different side events and plenary sessions on top of the technical sessions during the two-day event. More than 100 papers are expected to be submitted. There are also expected to be around 500 national and international participants. 2 parallel sessions will be conducted where scholars from all around will be presenting their research findings.
With the responsibility to lead the event, AMES has already set up a Local Organizing Committee (LOC) including its faculty members and administrative staff, in partnership with ICIMOD, Himalayan University Consortium, Society of Mechanical Engineers Society, Pulchowk Campus (SOMES), Society of Mechanical Engineers Nepal, (SOMEN), Society of Innovative Mechanical Engineer Students, Western Regional Campus (SIMES), Society of Mechanical Engineers Society, Eastern Regional Campus (SOMES ERC), Nepalese Society of Agricultural Engineers (NSAE), Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO), GirlsinTech, and Tekka. The preparation for the conference is well in advance. Several different organizations have also shown their keenness to support the conference as sponsors.
The conference is led by Prof. Dr. Bim Prasad Shrestha, DoME, Kathmandu University as a Conference Chair for this edition of USC. There are seven subcommittees for the planning and implementation of the event.
Our keynote speaker for our Conference will be David Molden, a former Directorate General of ICIMOD, who specializes in natural resources management, specializing in water resources management, leading and implementing development and research work across Asia and Africa.
