Adelaide Nepali Society organized a picnic program at Mitchell Park

The Adelaide Nepali Society organized a picnic program on the 17th of December at Mitchell Park in Adelaide with the aim of honoring the Nepali parents who came to visit from Nepal.

In the picnic held as an annual program of the society, original and entertaining games such as breaking the pot, tug-of-war, etc. were organized. During the occasion, the parents were thoroughly entertained by singing Bhajan Kritan and Nepali songs. Talking to the media, the president of the Adelaide Nepali Society, Devraj Kandel, said that about 900 Nepalis living in and around Adelaide participated in the program.

He informed that a Nepali language school was started in Adelaide with the main objective of promoting Nepali language, religion, and customs since the establishment of the organization, and currently around 90 students are being taught.

In the parents’ balloon pass competition, the pair of Ishwar Shrestha and Sharda Shrestha won first place, the pair of Krishna Bhakta Paudel and Savitra Wagle Paudel came second, the pair of Upendra Prashad Pandey and Tika Devi Pandey came third, while Narayan Bhattarai on the men’s side and Sita Paudel on the women’s side won the breaking pot competition.

Similarly, Pris Pandey won first place, Prajana Pandey, second place, and Ivan Kadel third place in the children’s spoon race competition. The prizes were distributed to the winners by Manju Khadka, member of the Multicultural Commission of the South Australia Government, Devaraj Kadel, President of the Society, Surendra Regmi, Public Relations Officer, Lakshmi Sapkota, Sagar Shrestha, Vice President.
