19th National Jyapu Day and Yomari Punhi Celebrated in Basantpur

The 19th National Jyapu Day was celebrated by organizing a program on the day of 'Yomari Punhi' in Basantpur, Kathmandu. On the occasion of the 19th National Jyapu Day, the Jyapu community reached Basantapur after the cultural rally and started the formal program.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba was the chief guest at the event, Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Jeevan Ram Shrestha, Member of Parliament for Kathmandu Constituency 1 Prakashman Singh, Member of Parliament for Kathmandu Constituency 9 Krishnagaepal Shrestha, Member of Parliament for Lalitpur Constituency 2 Prem Bahadur Maharjan, Chief of Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality Chirikaji Maharjan, Kathmandu Municipal Corporation Deputy Chief Sunita Dangol, President of Jyapu Mahaguthi, President of Jyapu Samaj, Yal and others were present.

The program was presided over by Mangalkrishna Singh, Chairman of the Jyapu Culture Development Fund. Those who have made significant contributions to society were honored in the program. Before the main event, the Jyapu community did a cultural tour with musical instruments as part of a cultural campaign.

Santkumar Maharjan, Vice President of Jyapu Culture Development Fund, said that this day has been started to be celebrated continuously to protect the traditional original culture, cultural and religious heritage of the Jyapu community.

Since 2061 BS, a cultural campaign has been launched with the aim of enhancing social harmony, coordination, and cooperative spirit between the Jyapu community and the non-Jyapu community within the Newa.
