11th nationwide Southwest Science Exhibition and Career Management Program Starts

The eleventh nationwide Southwest Science Exhibition and Career Management Program has started at Southwest State College. Former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai inaugurated the exhibition which started on Thursday at Southwest State College in Bashundhara, Kathmandu.

17 colleges and schools have participated in the two-day exhibition that will last till Friday. In this science exhibition, which started under the organization of Southwest State College, there are 15 stalls of Southwest State College students and 70 exhibition stalls of students from various other colleges and schools.

Also, in this exhibition, there are 8 stalls on behalf of various corporate sectors including banks, financial institutions, and information technology. Free health check-up and blood donation program is being conducted on behalf of Grandi International Hospital and Kantipur Dental Hospital in Kathmandu.

Sharita Shakya Pradhan, the program coordinator of Southwest State College, informed that arrangements can be made to enter from 10 am to 4 pm to view this exhibition.

Inaugurating the exhibition, former Prime Minister Bhattarai said that such exhibitions are important in the current scientific era and said that this exhibition is expected to be very successful and fruitful.

He said that this exhibition will be fruitful to give professional knowledge of science and management to the current students, he said that unless there is freedom of speech and writing, there will be no development in education and health. He stressed on the need to improve the education system and provide life-useful education.

"There should be respectable education, health and employment. We had to get the average rights of the present world. There are problems in this country. The youth of today should be involved in solving many problems," former Prime Minister Bhattarai said. "The distortions in the education system should be corrected and education useful for life should be given."

Tarakeshwar Municipality Mayor Krishnahari Maharjan said that instead of bringing students abroad for higher education, foreign students can be brought to Nepal. Accordingly, Tarakeshwar municipality is currently investing in improving the education system and curriculum education. He said that their lives will be easier only if future education is based on science and technology, so they emphasized on quality education campaign.

Tokha PABSON President Tank Chapagain said that institutional and community schools have different perspectives. He said that 21st century transformational education should be given by changing the thinking towards schools and claimed that only transformational education will develop everything.

Dr. Rajendra KC, head of Southwest State College, said that this program was organized to provide creative and professional knowledge to the students according to the current needs. Stating that until now, they have been focusing on the successful model of education, he opined that the successful model will move the country forward. He claimed that those who acquire practical education and move forward with constant patience will achieve success in life.

Also, Southwestern State College's Assistant Campus Head Harisinh KC said that this program organized by gathering students from different colleges in one place will show additional knowledge and talent among the students as well as increase teamwork and get a good chance to acquire more technical knowledge. He informed that this college has been holding such exhibitions in the past years as well, in order to make the education policymakers and the representatives of various local bodies participate in the on-site observation in accordance with the current needs.

He said that blood donation, free health check-ups, eye check-ups, dental check-up, robotic competitions, solar observation, science project presentations, musical program, farce etc.
