Overview

The MSc in Forestry program at Lumbini Technical University is designed to produce well-trained and skilled professionals in the field of forestry. The program is a postgraduate course that spans over two years and is composed of various courses that cover forestry-related topics. To be eligible for the program, candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Forestry or related subjects from a recognized university.

The program comprises a range of instructional methods, including lectures, tutorials, laboratory works, field work, group discussions, and assignments. Nepalese applicants are required to take an entrance examination consisting of objective questions related to general knowledge, forestry, and subject-specific matters. Applicants must obtain a minimum of 40% (120 marks) to pass the test. The final merit list of applicants will be prepared by adding 20% marks of the B.Sc. Degree to 80% of the marks obtained by the candidates in the entrance examination.

The objectives of the MSc Forestry program are to produce technically skilled human resources who can provide services to various sectors, such as the government, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector in the field of forestry. The program aims to produce self-reliant and skillful resource managers who can plan, initiate and develop forestry-based enterprises, and provide consultancy services to organizations. The program also aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to conduct scientific research and address the problems and gaps in forestry.
