Overview
Chaitanya Institute of Management (CIM) Offers CAP -I Program: CAP-I is a foundational course for the Chartered Accountancy program, which provides students with the basic knowledge and skills required to pursue a career in this field. The duration of the CAP-I/Foundation Course is one year.
Key features of the course include:
- Throughout-the-year admission: Students can apply for the CAP-I course at any time of the year by filling out the application form provided in Annexure 1 (Rule-2061). They must also submit copies of their mark sheet/transcript, character certificate of SLC and 10+2 (PCL), a copy of their citizenship or passport, and the fee receipt.
- Exam schedule: The CAP-I examination is held twice a year, in June and December. To appear for the June examination, students must register on or before the end of May, and for the December examination, they must register on or before the end of November.
Overall, the CAP-I/Foundation Course is an essential step towards becoming a Chartered Accountant, and students can apply for admission and register for the exams throughout the year.
CAP - I Course Registration Details
The registration fee for the CAP - I course is Rs. 25,000/-, to be paid at the time of registration, along with other applicable fees. However, students can also pay the registration fee in installments. Rs. 12,500 shall be paid at the time of registration, and the balance amount shall be paid by 30th November for the students registered until 31st May and by 31st May of the following year for the students registered until 30th November. The registration fee includes the cost of Institute's Study Material, Pre-test exam, Institute's Newsletter, and Institute's Journal. Please note that the registration fee is non-refundable.
Eligibility for CAP - I / Foundation Course
Students who have completed higher secondary (10+2) or certificate level examination from recognized academic institutions are eligible to join the CAP - I / Foundation Course. Additionally, graduates or post-graduates who have scored less than 50% in Commerce / Management or less than 60% in any faculty other than Commerce / Management and are ineligible to register directly for the CAP - II / Intermediate Course can also join the CAP - I / Foundation Course.
Candidates who have appeared in the 10+2 or final year of an equivalent examination but do not have results can also register provisionally for the CAP - I / Foundation Course. However, such provisional registration shall be confirmed only after satisfactory proof of having passed the said examination within a period of six months from the date of provisional registration. Please note that failure to comply with this shall result in the cancellation of provisional registration, and fees paid for provisional registration shall not be refunded.
CAP - I / Foundation Course Curriculum
The CAP - I Course consists of three groups, and each group carries 100 marks. There are five papers in total to be studied:
Group I
Paper 1: Fundamentals of Accounting (100 marks)
Group II
Paper 2: Mercantile Laws (50 marks) and Fundamentals of Economics (50 marks)
Group III
Paper 3: Fundamentals of Management (50 marks) and Commercial Mathematics and Statistics (50 marks)
Note that students need to pass all papers to successfully complete the CAP - I / Foundation Course.
