Overview
Solukhumbu Multiple Campus (Solukhumbu Campus, Salleri) was established in 1993 AD (2050 BS) and is situated in the lap of Mt. Everest. Solu Campus was established with the financial support of the Himalayan Trust, which was jointly established by Sir Edmund Hillary, the first summiteer of Mt. Everest, Mr. Angrita Sherpa, and other noble persons of society to provide quality higher education at a moderate fee for poor students from Solukhumbu and nearby districts.
Solukhumbu Campus is named after its district and is situated at the headquarters of Solukhumbu district. It has led this district's academic institutions, produced a qualitative educational workforce, transformed knowledge and awareness, and framed the culture for the nation's overall development. This Campus serves students from the Solukhumbu, Okhaldhunga, and Khotang districts.
Solukhumbu Multiple Campus is a non-profit, public-based institution managed and governed by public participation. This Campus has a Campus Management Committee (CMC) as a legislative body, and it comprises its members from different walks of life, for instance, social workers, political figures, administrators, business people, professionals, representatives of various communities, and other organizations. SMC has the statute (Bidhan) approved by the Campus Management Committee. All the internal bodies of the CMC are formed under the provision made by the CMC and the IQAC of the Campus. The Campus has designed comprehensive guidelines for the different committees of this Campus, which specify the defined job responsibilities of different internal bodies. All Campus academic, administrative, and financial activities are governed and regulated by the Campus Management Committee.
Solukhumbu Multiple Campus is a higher education institution that offers programs up to the Master’s level. At this campus, you’ll find Bachelor’s degrees in Arts (B.A.), Education (B.Ed.), and Business Studies (BBS), as well as a Master’s in Education (M.Ed.). This campus operates as a community-funded, not-for-profit organization through public involvement. It’s situated in Ward No. 5 of Solududhkunda Municipality, in Salleri, the district headquarters of Solukhumbu. The campus has offered higher-level classes since receiving approval for its Bachelor’s programs in 2053 BS. It serves students not only from Solukhumbu but also from neighboring districts such as Okhaldhunga and Khotang. The current achievements of the campus can be summarized as follows.
Looking at the enrollment numbers for 2080 BS, a total of 585 students enrolled across the B.A., B.Ed., BBS, and M.Ed. programs. This total includes 224 male students and 361 female students. When you look at all the students in all the programs, the number of female students is 137 more than that of male students. In the 2078 BS examinations for various levels of the B.Ed., BA, BBS, and M.Ed., 529 students participated. Of those, 314 were female students, and 215 were male students. Also, in 2078 BS, out of 218 students who passed, 80 were male, and 138 were female.
Research-oriented activities like thesis writing are constantly underway at the Master of Education (M.Ed.) level. The Solukhumbu Multiple Campus Research Journal continues to be published regularly to improve the organization of faculty research activities. Additionally, opportunities for faculty and staff to conduct “Mini Research” and receive Research Training are available.
Regarding physical resources, the campus has 32 Ropani of land. On that land, there are 20 rooms in 10 blocks, two playgrounds, four toilet facilities, each with two rooms, and a covered hall. The covered hall is also used for practical training in different sports.
Educational materials incorporating technology are essential for modernizing and systematizing teaching and learning. Therefore, the campus has provided various materials in collaboration with the UGC, the Education Development Directorate in Dhankuta, and the Ministry of Social Development of Koshi Province.
To the best of its financial ability, the campus offers scholarships to poor, Dalit, Janajati, differently-abled, and talented students. The campus also plans to serve society by running community awareness programs, skill development, and agriculture-related training.
The strengths of Solukhumbu Multiple Campus are that classes are taught by qualified, skilled, and experienced teachers; it has a large number of full-time teachers and staff; it has its land and buildings; it’s situated in a peaceful and beautiful place in the district headquarters; there’s enough land for future building construction; it has road access; it has good sports facilities; it has well-managed toilet facilities and drinking water; there’s good electricity access; it has internet available; teaching incorporates multimedia; and it’s become a good option for students from Okhaldhunga and Khotang.
Considering both technological development and society's educational interests, Solukhumbu Multiple Campus is steadily expanding its educational reach while laying the foundation for academic growth. Practical educational activities and transparent financial operations have been vital to its progress.

Teaching Methods:
The campus provides internet access to faculty and staff to support their further study and research. Additionally, Project Work is incorporated into semester-based programs. At the Master of Education (M.Ed.) level, thesis writing is an ongoing activity that connects directly to research and inquiry. To further facilitate research among teachers, the publication of the "Solukhumbu Multiple Campus Research Journal" is continued regularly. Furthermore, the campus offers opportunities for faculty and staff to conduct mini-research and receive Research Training. Tutorial classes are also conducted in English for education students and in Accountancy for commerce students. Along with these, various student-focused teaching methods are also applied, as needed, at different levels.
Solukhumbu Multiple Campus is committed to making teaching and learning simple, organized, and well-planned. We follow a range of approaches in our teaching methods, which align with the curriculum for each level and subject, including theoretical studies, practical work, site visits, and library-based learning.
