Overview
Pokhara Nursing Campus was established in 1982 AD in Pokhara Metropolitan City, Kaski, Gandaki Province. It is an educational institute dedicated to educating young Nepalese women and men in nursing.
Pokhara Nursing Campus (PNC) is a constituent campus of TU, IOM (Tribhuvan University, Institute of Medicine) ). Over four decades, it has become one of Nepal's pioneering educational organizations in nursing. The campus has gradually expanded its academic programs from CMA to PCL to Master in Nursing (MN). Academic Programs

The Post Basic Bachelor of Nursing (PBBN) program started in 2005 as a 3-year program and was converted to BNS in 2013 AD.

B.Sc Nursing is a 4-year program that started in 2016 AD, with an intake of 20 students annually.

Master's in Nursing was initiated in 2011 AD with four students specializing in adult health nursing, later expanded to include child health nursing and women’s health and development in 2074 BS.

Infrastructure & Facilities
E-Library
The campus has an E-Library with 16 desktop computers and internet service. The library’s digital collection continues to grow rapidly as an E-Resource Centre. It provides online faculty members, students, and researchers access to databases such as HINARI, AGORA, GOALI, OARE, and ARDI. In addition, there is a collection of research reports of bachelor and master students.
Classroom
The classrooms are well-furnished and well-equipped, with a capacity of about 45 students. Each classroom is equipped with a Multimedia projector and whiteboard. Additional infrastructures like a ceiling fan, electrical port, solar facility, and internet connection are available.
Playground
The campus has adequate unoccupied space, which has been used as a playground during sports activities. Games like volleyball, tug-of-war, pot breaking, and musical chairs are played in the playground, which also has a table tennis board.
Internet
Pokhara Nursing Campus has a total dedicated bandwidth of 15 Mbps. The campus provides fully dedicated wired and wireless internet facilities to all the faculty, staff, and students in the administration, faculty rooms, departments, library, E-library, hostel, and residence.
Power Backup
The campus has an electric backup facility for smooth and continuous campus activities. It has 1 generator (15 K.V with 13 power factor 0.8 at 50), solar (rating 3.5 K.V.A input 230 V), and an inverter (rating 5 K.V.A amp/kw). There is a solar line in each classroom.
First Aid
The campus has a well-equipped first aid room on the ground floor of the administration block. The room is well-equipped with a bed with pillows, a bedside locker, a footstep, a medicine cupboard, a vital sign tray, an oxygen cylinder, an IV stand, IV fluids, a dressing set, sanitary pads, and all other minimum requirements for the first aid treatment.
Meeting Hall
The campus has a well-furnished and well-equipped meeting hall with a multimedia projector, video conferencing, sound system, and internet facility. It can hold around 35 participants. This meeting hall is used for conducting various departmental and interdepartmental meetings on the campus.
Seminar cum Conference Hall
This Seminar cum Conference hall is situated on the 1st floor of library and classroom building. It is well-furnished and well-equipped with a multimedia projector, podium, sound system, and internet. It has the capacity of holding around 30 participants. This hall is used for conducting various training workshops, seminars, and meetings in the campus.
Vehicle Parking
The campus premises have three garage facilities for faculty, staff, and students. One garage is for bikes and scooters, and another small garage is for the campus bus. In addition, there is a separate garage facility in the residence area.
Cafeteria
The campus has a cafeteria where fresh, hygienic food is made, as preferred by faculty, staff, and students. The cafeteria is airy and has Wi-Fi internet access.
Hostel/Quarter
Pokhara Nursing Campus has provided hostel facilities to the students. The hostel consists of 6 blocks with 79 rooms and a capacity of accommodating 158 students. There is a separate block for the kitchen and dining hall. A warden's quarter is available for the Warden, who is responsible for the overall activities of the hostel. One female guard is also assigned for nighttime security.
There is a provision of residence/quarter for faculties and staff with three blocks named A, B, and C. Overall; it consists of 15 sub-blocks. Each sub-block has two bedrooms, one living room, one kitchen, and a bathroom.
Library
The campus provides a library that contains different textbooks, national and international reference books, journals, and periodicals. It also offers a wide range of friendly study environments for 100 readers and a spacious, well-furnished reading room. The library holds 7000 textbooks, 2000 reference books, 100 national and international journals, 80 other books, and more than two national daily newspapers.
Nursing Laboratories
The campus has four laboratories: the Fundamental of Nursing Skill Lab, the Midwifery and Paediatric Lab, the Basic Science Lab, and the Community and Nutrition Skill Lab. All the laboratories are well furnished and well equipped.
Transportation
The campus has one jeep for official use and a bus, which provides transport for students' different academic activities. Students are taken to various community fields for community posting, leadership and management, observation visits, and institutional visits to organizations and hospitals.
Co-curricular Activities
As part of their academic requirements, students are posted to community field visits, institutional visits, different hospitals, and specialized centers like cardiac hospitals, cancer hospitals, eye hospitals, mental hospitals, etc., throughout the year. In addition, final-year students of Bachelor's and Master's programs conduct research in different health-related areas. Students are also involved in different programs and activities conducted by other health-related organizations.
Extra Curricular Activities
Extracurricular activities help reduce stress, enhance team spirit, and promote physical and mental development. Under the students’ welfare committee, the campus organizes sports week every year to explore hidden talents and provide a break from the hectic schedule. It includes a wide range of indoor and outdoor games.

Students are divided into four different houses named after four pioneer nursing theorists:
Houses: Nightingale, Orem, Handerson, Johnson
Students regularly participate in cultural programs on different occasions, such as welcome and farewell programs, annual day, and Nurses Day celebrations.
Education Management Information System (EMIS)
Pokhara Nursing Campus uses EMIS software for data collection and the smooth running of campus activities. It is a web-based system, so users can access it using their account from anywhere the internet is available. All the data in the system is highly secured in the cloud, applying the best security policy.
The system records all academic information related to students and staff. Financial work is done through the system, which stores all student fee information. The system also runs in the Library, where all the information, such as book records and books received and delivered by students and teachers, is stored.
A smart barcode system ensures proper library functioning, manages every staff member's attendance, and stores campus administrative and stock information. Furthermore, the campus has formed an EMIS committee to ensure proper Information System management.
Faculty and Staff
Academic Faculties
Pokhara Nursing Campus comprises highly qualified and experienced faculty members specializing in different streams, including Adult Health Nursing, Women’s Health & Development, Child Health Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, and Oncology Nursing.
All the faculty members are enthusiastic and have participated in various trainings, conferences, seminars, webinars, and workshops. They also eagerly carry out research and have published their work in different national and international journals. Faculty members take classes and supervise students in clinical and community practicum. Altogether, there are 25 academic faculties on the campus.
Administrative Staff
The administrative staff of Pokhara Nursing Campus includes staff from administration, academic administration, examination section, finance section, library, store, and office helpers. They perform administrative responsibilities and are dedicated to supporting students' teaching-learning, research, and public services.

Research Management Cell
With the main goal of promoting research culture, Pokhara Nursing Campus establishes the Research Management Cell (RMC) in Mangsir, 2073 BS (December 2016), with financial support from the University Grants Commission. The main purpose of RMC is to run the research-related activities smoothly. It works as a center to serve the faculty members and students to enhance their academic and research capabilities, to provide resources for conducting research activities smoothly, and to support research projects.
The Research Management Cell invests its resources in areas of potential strength significant to the campus mission. Such areas provide particular academic and research capability depth to offer quality research training opportunities to faculty members and students. For that purpose, the cell often conducts seminars/training workshops for the faculty members and students.
The campus has provided research grants to individual faculty and teams for their research projects. Similarly, students of BNS, B.Sc. Research grants also support Nsg and MN.
Pokhara Nursing Campus Alumni Forum
For the formation of Pokhara Nursing Campus Alumni Forum (PNCAF), an alumni gathering was held on 15th Falgun 2076 BS under the chairmanship of Campus Chief Prof. Neeta Tamrakar, a former student of Pokhara Nursing Campus. An Ad Hoc (Tadartha) Committee of alumni was formed on the same day by the gathering under the leadership of Associate Professor Niruja Thapa. PNCAF is registered on 24th Bhadra 2077 with registration no. 4271.
This alumni forum aims to foster a spirit of loyalty and promote the general welfare of the campus. The Alumni Forum supports the parent organization’s goals and strengthens ties between alumni, the community, and the parent organization. Similarly, the alumni work to organize social events, publish newsletters or magazines, raise funds for the organization, and provide various benefits and services that help alumni maintain connections to the educational institution and fellow graduates. Additionally, the group often supports new alumni and provides a forum to form new friendships and cordial educational relationships with people of a similar background.

Future Plan
The plan includes developing and arranging its hospital for clinical learning facilities to enhance the overall effectiveness of the programs and grow the campus as a center of excellence. The campus has planned to construct a 300-bed teaching hospital and is currently working on it. It is under construction and recently completed the DPR.
Other infrastructure will be added, such as a conference hall, auditorium hall, hostel, overhead water tank, pipeline, and other supporting infrastructure.
Basic science laboratories for various departments, such as anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, pharmacology, and microbiology, will be restructured with adequate equipment. Similarly, the Fundamental of Nursing Skill Lab, Midwifery and Paediatric Lab, and Community and Nutrition Lab will also be well-equipped.
In addition, the campus plans to install CCTV security surveillance systems and an intercom communication system soon.

Fee Structure and Scholarship
The Medical Education Commission (MEC) decides the fee structure for medical programs in Nepal, which is subject to change yearly. Master in Nursing (MN)
The candidate must pass the BNS or B.Sc. nursing from a recognized institution with one year of working experience. To be eligible for the merit list, the candidate must achieve at least 50% pass marks in the entrance examination conducted by the Government of Nepal (GoN), Medical Education Commission (MEC). All students get a 100% scholarship in the Master's Program.
