PCL Nursing Program
PCL nursing is a 3-year course after the completion of SLC/SEE and is equivalent to higher secondary education. After completing the PCL Nursing course, nurses must register with the Nepal Nursing Council (NNC) to become registered nurses. Staff Nurses have the highest demand of any health professional in every healthcare institution, whether it is government or non-governmental.
Abroad opportunities in many countries, such as the USA, Canada, the UK, and Australia, with high pay, are abundant. For further study, they can enroll in a B.N. (Bachelor of Nursing) program, pursue a Master's of Nursing, and even consider a Ph.D. as an option. A staff nurse can also apply for BPH.
Health Assistant (HA) Program
H.A. is a 3-year course after the completion of SLC/SEE and is equivalent to higher secondary education. After the completion of the course, you need to register with the Nepal Health Professional Council to become a registered practitioner. In a country like Nepal, where the services of Doctors in rural areas are rare, HAS are trained to provide diagnosis and treatment, as distinct from Nurses whose primary focus is patient care.
In the government health delivery system, they serve as heads of Health Posts, providing valuable and necessary health services in rural areas. In urban areas, too, H.A.s play a crucial role in healthcare, emergency care, and primary healthcare centers. H.A.’s have a reasonable prospect of self-employment too. An HA graduate can continue to study M.B.B.S. or BPH. Many of the renowned doctors of our country were first trained as H.A.s; now they are the backbone of our health sector.
