Overview

Department of Social Work Under Tribhuvan University, the Master of Social Work (MSW) program is a two-year, four-semester program offered by MSW TU. It is in Room 207 on the second floor of the Center for Nepal and Asian Studies (CNAS) Building in Kirtipur.

Social work is an interdisciplinary field that includes theories from economics, education, medicine, politics, psychology, sociology, and anti-oppressive and anti-racist discourse.

Social work is a profession and scientific discipline focused on promoting social change. It plays a vital role in development efforts and combating poverty and social exclusion. By integrating theory, research, and practice, social workers can create customized strategies that address the needs of vulnerable groups and enhance individuals' well-being.

Establishing the Master's Program in Social Work at TU marks a significant milestone in offering a platform and an online resource for stakeholders in social work and social development, making it the first of its kind in the region.

The MSWTU website will serve as a hub for social work research and innovative ideas, benefiting the Nepali community and beyond.

MSWTU will be an excellent partner for policymakers, development planners, higher education institutions, NGOs, INGOs, and international stakeholders in applied social research projects, consultation services, and capacity-building initiatives. Salient Features

Why MSW on TU?

Social work is the disciplined activity professionals in a community do to bring about societal changes. It is also a field where different research programs are conducted to improve the lives and development of society. In social work, not only professionals participate, but also nonprofessionals help social workers for the betterment of society and themselves.

Social workers engage in various activities, such as research, policy development, community organizing, and teaching. These efforts identify societal problems, allowing individuals to take action and improve in areas where they may be lacking.

Social work requires different theories from economics, education, medicine, politics, psychology, and sociology. Today, social work is the backbone of society and has become a profession. I opted for this career despite being deprived of a high education due to a lack of money.
