Overview
The Land Management Training Centre (LMTC) (भूमि व्यवस्थापन प्रशिक्षण केन्द्र), under the Ministry of Land Reform and Management, is Nepal's leading governmental institution committed to advancing human resource capabilities and conducting research in geo-information science. Since its establishment in 1968, LMTC has played a crucial role in producing highly skilled survey technicians and conducting extensive research in the field. LMTC has been conducting a wide range of long and short-term training incorporating state-of-art modern technologies. Moreover, LMTC has been collaborating to run academic courses with Kathmandu University (KU) and the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT).

Mission
To conduct academic courses, professional training, refresher courses, and research in land management and geomatics, aimed at producing qualified and skilled human resources.

Training Programs
Long-term Training Programs
LMTC offers comprehensive long-term training programs aimed at developing in-depth expertise in surveying, mapping, and land administration. These programs are structured to combine theoretical knowledge with practical application, ensuring well-rounded professional development.
- Senior Survey Training: Aimed at experienced surveyors, this program covers advanced surveying techniques, land administration, and geo-information technologies.
- Junior Survey Training: Designed for mid-level professionals, this course includes modules on surveying, mapping, and basic geo-information science.
- Basic Survey Training: This foundational program is for entry-level surveyors and covers the essentials of surveying and mapping.
Since 2007, LMTC, in collaboration with Kathmandu University, has been offering a degree course in Geomatics Engineering. This program integrates academic rigor with practical training, preparing students for advanced roles in the industry.
Short-term Training Programs
Short-term training programs at LMTC are designed to meet specific needs in the field of geo-information science. These courses range from 2 to 5 weeks and are tailored to provide targeted knowledge and skills.
- Digital Cadastre Training: Focuses on digital technology in cadastral surveys, this training is essential for surveyors working in the District Survey Office.
- Land Administration Training: Enhances the capabilities of professionals working in land revenue offices, covering mapping, land resource organization, and overall land administration.
- Basic GIS Training: Provides foundational knowledge in geo-information science for government employees and GIS enthusiasts.
- Advanced GIS Training: Builds on basic GIS skills, enhancing analytical and mapping capabilities for professionals in various government institutions.
- Web GIS Training: Covers current Web GIS technologies, aimed at survey officers to improve their knowledge and application of web-based GIS.
- Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing Training: Enhances skills in photogrammetry and remote sensing techniques.
- Real Estate Valuation and Land Use/Land Zoning Training: Focuses on land valuation and sustainable land management practices.
Infrastructure and Location
LMTC is located in Bakhundol, Dhulikhel Municipality, Kavrepalanchok district, approximately 30 kilometers east of Kathmandu. The center boasts a comprehensive infrastructure designed to support extensive training and research activities:
- Administrative and Training Buildings: Equipped with modern facilities to support various training programs.
- Library and Laboratories: Provide resources and practical learning environments for trainees.
- Hostels for Boys and Girls: Accommodation facilities for students attending long-term training programs.
- Staff Quarters and Canteen: Housing and dining facilities for staff members.
- Playground: Recreational area for students and staff.
The total area of LMTC is about 2.9 hectares, offering a conducive educational environment enhanced by a panoramic view, moderate climate, and proximity to Kathmandu University.
