Overview
The Korea Nepal Polytechnic Institute (KNPI) is a renowned technical school in Nepal that was established in 2010 with the support of the Government of Nepal and the Republic of Korea (RoK). The institute was initially known as the Korea Nepal Institute of Technology (KNIT) but was later renamed KNPI in 2021 during the 183rd Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) meeting on April 14, 2021. KNPI operates as a government-run constituent institute under the CTEVT, which is responsible for producing technical and skilled human resources in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector.
Infrastructure and Programs Offered
KNPI has modern and spacious infrastructure, including the latest technology tools and equipment donated by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) from South Korea. The institute offers diploma programs in engineering, specializing in Electrical & Electronics, Automobile, Mechanical, and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning engineering. It also provides short-term training courses based on the CTEVT curriculum to meet the National Skill Testing Board (NSTB)'s various levels.
Goals and Objectives
The institute's primary goal is to produce a basic and middle-level workforce to meet the nation's and overseas' demands. KNPI plans to grow its self-reliance management by promoting income generation activities. To achieve this goal, KNPI has introduced a dual-VET apprenticeship program in engineering departments in cooperation with local industries.
To promote access to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) for disadvantaged groups (DAG) in Nepal, KNPI provides a reserved quota for targeted people and conducts scholarship programs for special groups as requested by CTEVT. Additionally, KOICA supplies Korean overseas volunteers to support and maintain the quality of the institute.
