Overview
The Korea Nepal Polytechnic Institute (KNPI) is a renowned technical school in Nepal that was established in 2010 with the support of the Government of Nepal and the Republic of Korea (RoK). The institute was initially known as the Korea Nepal Institute of Technology (KNIT) but was later renamed KNPI in 2021 during the 183rd Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) meeting on April 14, 2021. KNPI operates as a government-run constituent institute under the CTEVT, which is responsible for producing technical and skilled human resources in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector.
Infrastructure and Programs Offered
KNPI has modern and spacious infrastructure, including the latest technology tools and equipment donated by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) from South Korea. The institute offers diploma programs in engineering, specializing in Electrical & Electronics, Automobile, Mechanical, and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning engineering. It also provides short-term training courses based on the CTEVT curriculum to meet the National Skill Testing Board (NSTB)'s various levels.
Goals and Objectives
The institute's primary goal is to produce a basic and middle-level workforce to meet the nation's and overseas' demands. KNPI plans to grow its self-reliance management by promoting income generation activities. To achieve this goal, KNPI has introduced a dual-VET apprenticeship program in engineering departments in cooperation with local industries.
To promote access to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) for disadvantaged groups (DAG) in Nepal, KNPI provides a reserved quota for targeted people and conducts scholarship programs for special groups as requested by CTEVT. Additionally, KOICA supplies Korean overseas volunteers to support and maintain the quality of the institute.
KNPI's Vision, Mission, and Objectives
KNPI's vision is to be a leading provider of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Nepal by producing skilled and competent youths for successful careers that meet the needs of modern society. The institute's mission is to inspire, prepare, and empower people to thrive in a dynamic and evolving world by incorporating modern technology in the field of Technical Education and Vocational Training.
To achieve its vision and mission, KNPI has set out the following objectives:
- Foster cohesive relationships among all stakeholders involved in the institute's operations.
- Implement updated and relevant curriculam in the CTEVT sector that aligns with the demands of the job market.
- Generate sustainable income through various activities to support the institute's growth and development.
- Establish an Industry-School Cooperation (ISC) system to enhance collaborations between the institute and relevant industries.
- Provide an effective teaching and learning environment that fosters student success and excellence.
- Upgrade the quality of human resources and physical facilities to meet the needs and expectations of the students and stakeholders.
Courses Offered:
KNPI offers a range of CTEVT-affiliated 3-year full-time diploma programs, which are designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in various fields of engineering. Here are short descriptions of each program:
Diploma in Automobile Engineering: This program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of automobile engineering principles, including vehicle construction, maintenance, repair, and safety. Students learn to apply engineering concepts and skills to design and optimize vehicle systems, develop effective maintenance plans, and diagnose and repair mechanical faults.
Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering is a 3-year full-time program that focuses on the study of electrical and electronic principles and their applications. The program covers topics such as circuit analysis, digital electronics, power systems, communication systems, and microcontrollers. Graduates can work in various industries such as manufacturing, telecommunications, and power generation.
Diploma in Information Technology (DIT) is a 3-year full-time program that provides students with a solid foundation in computer programming, software development, networking, and database management. The program covers topics such as programming languages, operating systems, web development, and data structures. Graduates can work in various industries such as software development, IT support, and database management.
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering: This program provides students with a strong foundation in the principles of mechanical engineering, including mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, and manufacturing processes. Students learn to design, analyze, and optimize mechanical systems and components, as well as develop and implement effective maintenance strategies.
Diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning: This program equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to design, install, operate, and maintain refrigeration and air conditioning systems. Students learn about the principles of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics, as well as the latest technologies and practices in the field of HVAC&R (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration).
Overall, KNPI is a top technical school in Nepal that offers quality CTVET programs and infrastructure. The institute's vision, mission, and objectives are aligned with its commitment to producing skilled and competent youths for successful careers that meet the needs of modern society.
