Overview
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Tribhuvan University ((TU FOHSS)) is one of the four Faculties of Tribhuvan University. It was restructured as a Faculty in 1985 AD. FOHSS produces specialized human resources in humanities, social sciences, computer applications, and interdisciplinary studies. Thirty (30) constituent Campuses and more than three hundred (300) affiliated colleges are under FOHSS.
TU FOHSS has 22 (Twenty-Two) central departments and 8 (Eight) new Master's Degree programs, including Tourism and Hospitality Studies and Development Studies (THSD), Sports Science (MSS), Counseling Psychology, Social Work (MSW), International Relations and Diplomacy (IRD), Gender Studies (GS), and Conflict, Peace, and Development Studies (CPDS).

Master's Degree Programs are on the university campus, and all new programs are run under the semester system. Seven (7) Central Departments are conducting M. Phil. Program. Three (2) special master's Degree programs are affiliated with this Faculty: 1, Strategic Study (SS: 2) Security, SPDS -Peace and Development Studies,s and 3) Crisis Management Studies (CMS). The number of students enrolled in this Faculty is 32 % of the entire university enrollment.
The Office of the Dean provides academic support, leadership, and direction to the Campuses and Central Departments. It conducts MPhil and PhD programs in Humanities and Social Sciences in academic coordination and involvement of the concerned Central Departments and faculties. To enhance efficiency, the office of the Dean regularly conducts a seminar cum workshop for its faculties. It also publishes periodic journals and teaching and research manuals.
The Faculty Board, headed by the Dean, is the highest body of the Faculty. The Dean’s Office has four sections: 1. the MPhil PhD section, 2. the Examination Section, 3. the equivalence, Research/Publication, Training/Seminar Section, and 4. the Administration Section.
