There have to be two exams to become a teacher. Only those who pass the General Examination will be allowed to join the thematic examination.

The Council of Ministers on Wednesday made the 10th amendment to the Teacher Services Commission Rules. Under the revised new law, the teacher's written examination will now have two hundred marks. A general examination of one hundred marks and thematic examination of one hundred marks will be conducted. The general exam will be objective.

Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Krishna Prasad Kapri said that arrangements have been made for joining the thematic examination only after passing the general examination. This will increase the competition in teacher selection and only the best teachers can be selected.”

Only those who get at least 50 marks in the General Exam will be given a thematic test. As per the revised rules, only 50 percent of the marks obtained in the General Examination can be added to the score of the thematic examination.

Last time two hundred twenty thousand people took the written exam. The general test will be tested with the help of the answer-book device (OMR). "The results will be publishing soon and participation in the thematic exam will be less," said Kapri, joint secretary. Provision is made to deduct zero decimal two digits of the wrong answer in case of the wrong answer. The same procedure is in the Public Service Commission examination.

An allotted 25 marks allotment is made for teacher interviews. Rules have been made to give 15 marks for an interview, 5 marks for more than 10 years of experience, three marks for minimum educational qualification and two marks for upper academic qualification.
