Israel to Recruit 500 Nepali Caregivers:

For the first time, Israel has institutionally granted 500 Nepali employment work permits for the nursing sector; Of which 60 percent will be women and 40 percent will be men. According to the work permit policy for a total of 2500 workers, Israel is going to give the opportunity to 500 Nepalis. For this, Nepal and Israel have agreed to sign a labor agreement.

With this agreement, the way has been opened for Nepali workers to go to the care center. Earlier, Nepalis were given work permits as caregivers at home. Now he is being taken to the hospital. According to the Nepalese Embassy in Israel, the agreement will be signed on September 30, 2020, between Nepal's Ambassador Anjana Shakya and Israeli Foreign Minister Gavi Askhenaji. The cabinet meeting has already authorized Shakya to sign the labor agreement.

"Israel has a policy of sending 2,500 workers to the nursing sector. In that from Nepal

About 500 people are being taken away, 'said Harish Chandra Ghimire, joint secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who chaired the meeting to prepare for the labor agreement.

The private sector is not involved in Israel's recruitment process. Kumar Dahal, Director General of the Department of Foreign Employment, said that it was agreed to send workers through the government machinery of both the countries. ‘The labor selection process will be through a government mechanism. The Israeli side has given the responsibility to the department for this, 'said Dahal, who is participating in the agreement process.

Based on the demand letter sent by Israel, the department will prepare a roster (list of workers) and send it to Israel only for permission.

‘We publish information according to selection criteria. We prepare the roster by interviewing those who are on the shortlist. We will send a list of those selected to Israel. We will accept the work after they give permission, 'he said.

Who can apply: Those who pass the SLC and study healthcare for 15 months or who have passed Class 12 and completed three months of caregiver training can apply for English.

"Israel seems eager to send workers very soon. As soon as the procedure of the labor selection process is passed, the recruitment process will move forward. This work is likely to start within a month, 'he said. All expenses for going to Israel will be borne by the workers themselves. Dahal said that the workers should bear the cost of health check-ups, welfare fees, insurance, and tickets. "It doesn't cost more than a million rupees," he said. Workers going to Korea through the government recruitment process have to bear the cost themselves. The cost of going to Korea is around Rs 85,000.

‘The salary will be 15 hundred dollars a month. There will be a 310 dollars deduction for food and accommodation, 'he said, adding that' salary and other services are guaranteed. '

Manpower companies used to send workers to Israel, which is considered an attractive destination for caregivers. Sending workers through a manpower company was banned from 2009 after it was found that up to Rs 900,000 had been recovered from the workers.

Caregivers were introduced as a pilot project from August 2015 through the government process. The caregiver was also postponed from April 4, 2017, after a parliamentary committee decided not to send domestic workers until a labor agreement was reached. After that, the pilot project was not successful. Currently, 3,000 Nepalis are working as caregivers in Israel.
