Self Learning Textbooks for Kids (Pre-School to Grade 8):
Along with the global crisis brought by COVID 19, schools in Nepal also closed. Therefore, it has become difficult for children to attend school regularly and participate in the reading. However, the process of learning and teaching cannot be stopped. At the present time when information and technology are being used at the highest level, learning and teaching can be done by maintaining distance from radio, television, online, virtual, or other similar methods. Even with the need to stay at home in captivity, with the help of an educated parent or elder, children need to be motivated to learn curriculum-related subjects as well as vital and practical skills. At the same time, classroom learning materials have been prepared in collaboration with the Center for Education and Human Resource Development and Nepal Education Group. In this program, 4 books titled "Learning Activities that can be done at home with the help of parents" have been prepared and made public in the past targeting children from early childhood development to class 3.
At the same time, self-learning activities that can be done at home have been prepared to target children from class 4 to class 8. Learning activities have been prepared to support Nepali English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, etc., based on the basic education curriculum in self-study materials. These materials are expected to be useful, not just for a short period of time, but also for regular reading in school. This material is designed to help 12- and 13-year-olds who have completed an 8th-grade education study in 8th grade. It contains activities for 45 days.
Children can do these activities on their own. Therefore, parents should encourage and support their children to do the activities involved. Also, if further facilitation is required, it is requested to coordinate by contacting the teacher or facilitator.
At the end of each day's activity, ask them to sign a date. The teacher should also evaluate these activities completed by the student after the school opens. The illustrations and activities included in this book are courtesy of textbooks, learning activities that can be done at home with the help of parents, materials created and published by development partners, online resources, and various websites. Finally, the Center for Education and Human Resource Development would like to thank all those involved in writing, editing, compiling, and managing this material. Its use is expected to provide constructive suggestions for further modifications.
