Bachelor of Data Science Program Admission Open at School of Mathematical Sciences (SMSTU)
Tribhuvan University, Institute of Science and Technology, School of Mathematical Sciences (SMSTU) Notice regarding new student admission in the Bachelor of Data Science program.
Tribhuvan University, Institute of Science and Technology, under the School of Mathematical Sciences, has published the following new admission program for students interested in enrolling in the four-year (eight semesters) Bachelor in Data Science program, which operates under the semester system.
Minimum Qualifications:
a) Must have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination with a minimum final CGPA of 1.8 in any stream of higher secondary/secondary school.
Or
b) Must have passed the proficiency certificate level or equivalent examination from a recognized educational institution of Tribhuvan University with at least second division.
Or
c) Must have passed the A-Level examination with a minimum grade of D.
Or
d) Must have passed a three-year diploma level with at least second division in any subject from CTEVT.
Or
e) In the case of educational qualifications obtained from foreign educational institutions, equivalent documents must be submitted from the Curriculum Development Center, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur.
Online Form:
a) Online applications can be filled out on the school’s website https://sms.tu.edu.np from 2081 Shrawan 01.
b) Entrance examination fee of Rs. 2,000/- (in words, two thousand only) must be deposited in the "TU School of Mathematical Science" Current Account Number 04500106276401000001 of Nepal Bank Limited, Kirtipur branch. Students must write their full name while depositing the fee online or through a bank voucher. The fee deposited for the entrance examination will not be refunded once the bank voucher is issued.
Information Regarding Entrance Examination:
a) New admissions will be based on written exams, interviews, and educational qualifications. A merit list will be published based on a total of 100 marks, with 80 for the written exam, 10 for the interview, and 10 for educational qualifications.
b) The written exam will be of 80 marks with multiple-choice questions in Mathematics (30 marks), English (30 marks), and GK and IQ (20 marks), with a duration of 1 hour and 45 minutes.
c) A minimum of 35% marks is required to pass the written examination.
d) Sample question papers for the written exam can be obtained from the school's website.
e) The dates and times for the written exam and interviews will be published later.
Inclusive Quota:
According to the Tribhuvan University Semester System Operation Regulations 2074, out of a total of 40 seats, 80% (32 seats) are open and 20% (8 seats) are reserved under the inclusive quota.
Scholarships:
According to the TU Institute of Science and Technology Scholarship Guidelines 2079, meritorious scholarships (one male student and one female student) and 10% of students will be provided free scholarships each semester.
